“There’s music, there’s food and you get the whole gallery to yourselves. There’s no-one there who’s not your age. It’s a chance to meet people, it’s a social event and it’s a whole lot of fun”

- Saira, Youth Committee

“Its a great night to express yourself without fear of judgement”

Genext is supervised by the MCA Creative Learning team and is drug, cigarette and alcohol free

Humans of Genext by the MCA Youth Committee

Humans of Genext is an ongoing digital project by the MCA Youth Committee, which they began in 2015. Inspired by the photographic documentary project Humans of New York, Humans of Genext explores the political, cultural and aesthetic beliefs of young people through a series of curated questions developed by the Youth Committee and inspired by current MCA exhibitions and artists. This short film explores the motivations behind their project and documents the making of a recent Humans of Genext chapter in response to the work of Kader Attia, filmed at the Genext event on 23 April 2017.
