– Alter Ego with Julie Paterson/ Booked out

This event is booked out

Alter Ego will also be held on Wednesday 9 August

Alter Ego is fancy Latin for The Other I. The you that’s somewhere beneath the surface. Inspired by artist Jenny Watson’s process and materials, Julie Paterson leads this workshop where you will create a portrait of your Other I on op-shop found fabric.

Using fast, intuitive drawing, raw cut paper stencils and the personality of the pre-loved fabrics, we will produce portraits that reveal something honest and perhaps unexpected.

Wednesday 2 Aug, 6.30–8.30pm
Digital Studio, Level 3
$55 General
$44 MCA Members & Concessions*

*Concession: Tertiary/TAFE/ESL Students with photo ID, Senior’s Card holders, Unemployed/Concession Card holders, Nava card holders

All materials provides. Suitable for any age or experience level.

About the artist
Julie Paterson is a painter, printmaker and designer of textiles. She owns a small fabric company called Cloth that she set up more than 20 years ago. She works with a small team who loves what they do, making textiles the old fashioned way, naturally, all by hand. She has written a book about her creative process and she runs workshops to get people to connect with their own creativity. Julie believes that the secret to a happy life is to embrace the imperfect and be kind to ourselves. And that it’s good to play the ukulele.

Inclusive Access
We offer support for anyone with access needs as a free supplement to all MCA programs. For more information and to make a request, please contact
