Sat 12 Apr 2014, 4.30-7pm
Airds Bradbury Central car park, 52 Riverside Dr, Airds NSW
Join us in the South-Western Sydney suburb of Airds to celebrate the launch of NZ artist Michel Tuffery’s Transforma sculpture – a massive bust of a kangaroo made from the bodies of cars abandoned then salvaged from the Upper Georges River. The BBQ built into the body of the sculpture will be put to good use, and the achievements of Tuffery’s seven-week residency celebrated. The evening will feature results of ongoing workshops with local youth, including live performances, video projections, and woodblock prints.
Assisted by his talented team Jeff Riwaka, Bob McGlinchy, Tony Farra, Angela Tiatia, Leo Tanoi and Rayjah, Tuffery has created a magical project with a multi-tiered approach to art-making and creating stewardship over the Georges River.
