Lights On Later
– Practical Print

Thursdays in March, 5.30 – 6.30pm
FREE, drop in
National Centre for Creative Learning

Inspired by the art-making processes of Chuck Close, get hands-on in this print-making workshop exploring a range of different printing methods.

Drop in to the MCA every Thursday night throughout March and be introduced to the basic techniques and processes of relief printing.

Thu 5 Mar – Workshop 1
White line technique – experiment with making imagery by cutting thin linear marks. When printed a white line drawing is revealed against a black field.

Thu 12 Mar – Workshop 2
Black line technique – experiment with making imagery by cutting away large areas of the block away. When printed a black line drawing is revealed against a white field.

Thu 19 Mar – Workshop 3
Ukiyo-e Japanese style relief printing- create a multicolour layered print using multiple printing blocks

Thu 26 Mar – Workshop 4
Reduction cut – Learn how to embrace your mistakes by creating a reduction cut- a multi-coloured, multilayered print using one block
