Nigel Milsom

b.1975 :

Nigel Milsom’s paintings often appear to be experiments in the various treatments of gloss and matt paint. However, on closer inspection the monochromatic effect is almost always interrupted with splashes of pure colour – used to emphasise the illusion of light.

Nigel Milsom was born in Albury, New South Wales in 1975. Currently Sydney based, he completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the University of Newcastle in 1998, then undertook postgraduate studies at the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales, Sydney. He gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in 1999, and a Master of Fine Arts in 2002. He has exhibited widely over the last decade and has participated in solo exhibitions across Sydney, as well as group exhibitions at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest, Sydney and Campbelltown Arts Centre, Sydney.
