Blog – Spiderman at the Avant Card Awards

Posted on May 31, 2013 in Events.

In June 2012 on the back of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia’s rebrand and reopening, the Avant Card accompanying the Museum’s marketing campaign was awarded Postcard of the Month.

The postcard featured a much-loved work in the MCA’s Collection by Stephen Birch called Untitled 2005 and was used extensively to relaunch the Museum in March 2012.

Tom Spicer, Joint National Creative Director of Arnold Furnace describes the work as ‘a fresh and original piece which perfectly compliments the new wing itself and makes a strong case for popping down to Circular Quay for a bit of culture.’

The postcard then went in to the Postcard of the Year Awards where Melbourne Water’s Build a Raingarden which featured a ‘seeded card’ postcard designed for planting, took out top prize.

The evening was held at Madame Tussauds in Sydney and gave ‘Spiderman’ the chance to meet and greet with Australian and international celebrities on the night.
