Educator Exclusives 2013

Educator Exclusive evenings invite teachers to experience new MCA exhibitions and uncover behind-the-scenes perspectives with talks from artists and curators, and discovery sessions led-by MCA Artist Educators. Explore new teaching ideas and resources and enjoy refreshments with your colleagues in the creative spaces of the National Centre for Creative Learning.

Sydney Opera House presents: Arts Camp for Educators (ACE!)

Sydney’s best creative arts organisations have collaborated to offer a professional development program that could complete your accreditation hours in one go. Hosted at the Sydney Opera House, you’ll be spoilt for choice with accredited sessions offered by the MCA, Bell Shakespeare, Sydney Theatre Company, atyp, Sydney Symphony and the Sydney Dance Company.

Creative Arts in the Special Needs Classroom

Young people with a disability often experience barriers to quality arts education and professional art practice. The MCA joins the Sydney Opera House, Accessible Arts NSW, the Department of Education and Communities, and the Australian Centre for Child and Youth: Culture and Wellbeing (UTS) to present an accredited arts education professional development day.

Discuss the latest research, participate in either a dance or visual arts workshop, learn about professional arts education programs, and meet key leaders in the arts and disability network. Presented at the Sydney Opera House and the MCA.

Bungawarra (To make, to do) Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Practice

Explore contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art practice in string theory: Focus on contemporary Australian art, an exhibition which brings together the work of artists from across Australia who work with expanded notions of textile and craft-based traditions.

In this small-group workshop, join leading artists and educators to investigate approaches to studying contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art. Develop a greater understanding of artists whose current practice is influenced by long cultural traditions.

Bungawarra means to make or do in the Gadigal language, traditional owners of the land and waters that make-up Sydney today.

Professional Development Days in the National Centre for Creative Learning

The new creative studios of the National Centre for Creative Learning provide an ideal venue for your school’s next professional development day. With views over the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, the studios offer the flexibility to cater for whole staff sessions and small group activities in a fresh and stimulating environment. The MCA Learning team can also support your day with sessions focused on creative learning strategies and Artist Educator led Gallery Explorations.
