Vivid Ideas Workshops
– Technology, Tools & Techniques

MACROPHONICS – Controlling Music and Media with Moving Bodies

Vivid Ideas brings designers, performers and technologists to Sydney to share their ideas and connect with local creators.

In the final workshop in a series which will aim to navigate the space where art, technology and commerce intersect, Members of multi-media performance group Macrophonics will demonstrate approaches to the use of wearable sensors and new musical interfaces to control audio and video in real-time. Participants will gain an opportunity to see works in progress by the Macrophonics group.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience.

$20/$15 MCA Members and Concessions per workshop

About the artists

Macrophonics are a group of Australian multi-media performance artists. The group have been producing performances that explore the emerging dialogue between traditional media and emerging digital media, as well as the dialogue across a broad range of musical traditions. From sensor based microphones and guitars, performance a/v, to post rock- dronescapes, movement inspired works and experimental electronica; Macrophonics provide a broad and engaging survey of new performance approaches in mediatised environments.
Member include: composer, performer, media artist and researcher, Julian Knowles; vocalist, electronic music composer and instrument designer, Donna Hewitt and Sydney based new media artist, Dr. Wade Marynowsky.
