Special Event

Time & Travel Bazaar

Time & Travel Bazaar was one of the sessions.

In response to themes in the work of Claire Healy & Sean Cordeiro, the MCA will become a portal into the exploration of time, travel and time-travel.

Join artists, academics and enthusiasts for pop-up talks and performances exploring time-based, ephemeral and temporary art; cult classic time-travel films; the space-time continuum; and the impact of travel on artists’ practice. Plus, each week, take part in writing postcards to your future self.

8 November, 6.00pm
In the Level 1 foyer, write a postcard to your future self, and the MCA will post it back to you at a time of your choosing within the next six months. Plus, join Artist Educator Lisa Andrew in celebrating the MCA’s 21st Birthday by leaving a video message with a word of advice for your past or future 21-year-old-self.

15 November 6.00pm
Hear artists Khaled Sabsabi and Will French discuss how travel has impacted their arts practice. Plus, write a letter to your future self for the MCA to post on your behalf.

22 November 6.00pm
Hear Nicholas J Smith, Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Sydney, speak about metaphysics and time travel philosophy. Plus, write a letter to your future self for the MCA to post on your behalf. *
29 November 6.00pm*
Hear film buff Richard Gray from thereelbits.com talk about a selection of cult-classic time-travel films and why we’re so drawn to the concept of travel between time and space. Plus, write a letter to your future self for the MCA to post on your behalf.
