Launch: The Lip Anthology

Rediscover ground breaking projects and artworks when editor Vivian Ziherl, and respondents Ann Stephen and Eleanor Ivory Weber launch this collection of artist-pages, essays and activist reports from Lip magazine, a lightning rod for Australian feminist artistic practice through the Women’s Liberation era. Self-published by women in Melbourne from 1976 to 1984, the art and ideas expressed over _Lip_’s lifetime track with moves into performance, ecology, social-engagement and labour politics; all at an intersection with local realities.

Collecting and presenting the materials of Lip for the first time since their original appearance, The Lip Anthology, edited by Vivian Ziherl, privileges the range and dynamism of contesting feminisms that comprised the Lip project. Selected interviews, artist-pages, essays and activist reports are re-produced in facsimile, conveying _Lip_’s hallmark graphic experimentation.

The Lip Anthology is published by Kunstverein Publishing (Amsterdam) and Macmillan Art Publishing (Melbourne), co-produced with Grazer Kunstverein and with the support of the Australia Council for the Arts and the TEWRR.
