Art Write Now: Creative Writing and Contemporary Art: Program launch and presentation by Alison Lester, Australian Children’s Laureate was one of the sessions.

Primary teachers are invited to a special hands-on preview of the MCA’s new art and literacy program for primary students Art Write Now and opportunity to meet much-loved children’s author and Australian Children’s Laureate, Alison Lester. Alison will officially launch the Art Write Now program, and discuss her project This is My Place.

About Art Write Now:Creative Writing and Contemporary Art
Art Write Now is a lively program for primary students in Stages 2 and 3. Students investigate contemporary artworks as a springboard for creative writing challenges, composing imaginative texts through playful activities that encourage experimentation with words and language forms and features, inspired by personal and collaborative connections to artworks.

About Alison Lester, Australian Children’s Laureate
Alison Lester is a popular and best-selling writer and illustrator of children’s books, and has won many awards, including the Children’s Book Council of Australia Picture Book Award for Are We There Yet? in 2005(Penguin) and Honour Book for Sophie Scott Goes South in 2013(Penguin).

As the Children’s Laureate for 2012 and 2013, Alison is a national and international ambassadors for Australian children’s literature. This position is shared with co-Laureate Boori MOnty Pryor.

This event is presented in partnership with the Australian Children’s Literature Alliance. Bookings are essential.
