Special Event

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders Special Gallery Tour and Morning Tea

Join Keith Munro, MCA Curator of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Programs, for a tour of Volume One: MCA Collection, especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders. For the first time in the MCA’s history, an entire floor is dedicated to permanently presenting works from the MCA Collection, reflecting the strength and breadth of Australian contemporary art over the past 20 years. Explore diverse visions of Australia and Australian culture in digital works, photography, sculpture, painting and drawing. Extraordinary bark paintings, bags and baskets and graphic video, photography, drawings and collage juxtapose the diverse practices of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, while colour and shape are transformed in innovative pieces. Gain insight into these important works and then yarn and catch up with friends at morning tea.
