THE HOURS: Visual Art of Contemporary Latin America

21 June - 2 September 2007

This winter the MCA presents the largest exhibition of Latin American art ever staged in Australia.

Explore over 130 works drawn from one of the world’s most important private collections of contemporary art, the Daros-Latinamerica Collection, in this exhibition curated by Sebastian Lopez (former Director of the Gate Foundation, Amsterdam and Curator of the Shanghai Biennale 2004).

Seen from the perspective of time, many of the works reflect the social and political circumstances of particular countries or regions including Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Brazil and Guatemala. Other works deal with the past and the ways in which it still plays a role in the present.
