Craig Walsh: Digital Odyssey

A Museum of Contemporary Art Australia Touring Project

In 2010, the MCA proudly launched an exciting collaboration with Australian artist Craig Walsh. Craig Walsh: Digital Odyssey was an epic regional tour and artist residency program, which brought Walsh’s distinctive artwork to rural and remote locations throughout Australia.

For this ambitious project, Walsh travelled in a unique mobile living and working environment equipped with all the necessary technical equipment required to ensure that he was completely self-sufficient and able to present and produce major public artworks almost anywhere in the country.

This project was the first of its kind in Australia. Utilising the extraordinary artwork of a leading contemporary artist, Craig Walsh: Digital Odyssey sought to capture the imaginations of those living, working in and visiting regional areas. Walsh created stunning large-scale projections in public spaces: on trees, buildings and rivers, and invited the public to participate in his work by sharing their stories and becoming part of the art.
